Concordia University Irvine
Approximately a decade beginning in 2011
Higher education SEO and Google Ads for national graduate recruitment.
Semtrak was contracted to manage nationwide Google Ads, SEO, website content and analytics across a portfolio of CUI programs, while also supporting university-wide organic visibility.
The situation
CUI was competing for graduate students against much larger universities with stronger brands and larger search footprints. Treating every program and every geography the same would have forced the university into the most expensive national auctions.
The direction
Semtrak built the paid and organic strategy around geographic authority first. By strengthening visibility in the university's local territory, aligning program pages to real search demand and coordinating ads with SEO, CUI could compete from a position of relevance before expanding nationally.
What Semtrak managed
- Managed a nationwide Google Ads portfolio reported at approximately $100,000 per month
- Directed SEO and content across MCAA, MBA, MAEd, nursing and other graduate-program pages
- Supported the launch marketing for the Townsend Institute and its master's and doctoral programs
- Managed Google Analytics and later the transition from Universal Analytics to GA4
The business record
The operating result was a decade-long system of steady optimization rather than a one-time campaign. CUI describes MCAA today as the nation's largest program of its kind, with more than 4,000 alumni. Semtrak does not claim sole credit for that institutional achievement, but the national recruitment system was part of the program's growth period.
